Local people in the capital city don’t have to go far to find tasty and affordable food. On many street corners or on footpaths there are food stalls with small, plastic chairs and tables for their customers. Some of these small restaurants open early in the morning to cater to people looking for breakfast before going to work, and others open later in the day or late into the night.

Many kinds of food are available, most of it traditional Khmer dishes.

Diners can find a wide variety of dishes, from many kinds of noodle soups to the popular bobor, a traditional rice soup usually served with chicken or fish. There’s also barbequed chicken, pork and fish that comes with either noodles or steamed rice.

These popular, traditional meals are also very reasonably priced, averaging from 5,000 to 9,000 riel per dish.
